Manon Lescaut

At the heart of Giacomo Puccini's opera ‘Manon Lescaut’ are two young people torn between passion and calculation, the cloister and the salon. Manon escapes her fate of entering a convent and flees with the enamored Chevalier Des Grieux to a life of pleasure. However, the royal tax collector Geronte de Ravoir, with the support of Manon’s brother, separates them, and Manon is ultimately deported to America. Though they are reunited, their fate leads them to a desolate desert with no hope of salvation.
